12th Ave Co-op is located in the East Lake district of Oakland. 

For years, the previous owner refused to make repairs and pay utility bills. Many of the tenants had lived there for almost 20 years and formed close bonds. In 2019, they organized among themselves to purchase and rehabilitate the building with the support of the Bay Area Community Land Trust. The building is currently being renovated to increase the number of units from six to seven and improve the overall condition.
