East Bay Cooperative Housing Gatherings

2012-Want to live in a co-op event.jpg

Thirty people from housing co-ops gathered at Parker Street Co-op Sept 27th. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful Saturday afternoon of fun, food, and discussion, as well as guided tours of Parker Street Co-op’s rooftop garden, vegetable gardens, flowerbeds, and fruit trees. A delicious lunch of Middle Eastern foods, was provided by Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union.

We had the garden tour and everyone expressed admiration despite Parker Street’s limited space around their buildings, that they had found ways to plant so many vegetables, fruit trees, and flower beds and create such an urban oasis of food and beauty. This was facilitated by removing concrete in several areas to allow for more planting.
